1. Where exactly is The Owl's Nest?
The condo is in Dead Man's Flats, Alberta — a small hamlet on the Trans-Canada Highway about 10 minutes east of downtown Canmore and 30 minutes from Banff. It's a 1 hour 15 minute drive from Calgary International Airport (YYC).
2. How many people does the condo sleep?
Up to 8 guests across 3 bedrooms — one king bedroom and two queen bedrooms — plus a queen pull-out sofa in the living room.
3. Is there a hot tub or pool?
Yes — the building has a shared hot tub and heated pool that are open year-round, and access is included with your stay. Bring a swimsuit even in winter; it's a favourite after a day on the slopes.
4. Is parking included?
Yes. Free underground heated parking for one vehicle plus additional outdoor visitor parking on-site.
5. Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately no — we're not able to accept pets in this rental unit.
6. What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 4:00 PM and check-out is by 10:00 AM. The unit uses a smart lock with a code sent to you the day before arrival, so there's no meeting required.
7. Is there WiFi?
Yes — fast WiFi throughout the unit and entire condo building.
8. How close is skiing?
Nakiska is about 30 minutes away, Sunshine Village about 1 hour, and Lake Louise about 1 hour 15 minutes. The Canmore Nordic Centre (cross-country) is 15 minutes.
9. Is the kitchen fully equipped?
Yes — full-size fridge, gas stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, plus all the pots, pans, and utensils you need to cook a proper family dinner. A grocery run to Save-On-Foods in Canmore is 10 minutes away.
10. How do I book?
All bookings go through Airbnb, which handles payment, communication, and damage protection. Check availability and reserve your dates on our Airbnb listing.
11. Why is it called The Owl's Nest?
Because the owners love owls — and owl photography. The name is a nod to the collection of owl images and gear the hosts have collected over the years chasing great greys, snowies, and great horned owls across Alberta.
